This Sunday @ True Life!
"Through Him who gives me strength"
"For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."
- Philippians 4:13
People love this verse. You can buy a sticker or a bookmark. You can write it on your tennis shoes or tattoo it on your body. You could get a bumper sticker and you could even get license plates that say Phil 413. People have done all of these.
If you were to follow NBA basketball player, Steph Curry, on twitter you would find that his profile says the following....Believer. Husband to @ayeshacurry, father to Riley, Ryan and Canon, son, brother. Golden State Warriors guard. Davidson Wildcat. Philippians 4:13 #IWILL
Why is this such an important verse to so many? I think it has something to do with the fact that we live in the United States, a place where you can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it and work hard. I think it is a great reminder for many when they are trying to accomplish something that is going to require a tremendous effort. Or maybe there is something they are reaching for that others may think they are unable to pull off and this reminds them that it is not up to them.
These are all great! But, what if this verse is actually much simpler than that? What if this verse is not just about accomplishing great things but even more so about walking through the normal, everyday, lives that we lead? What if it is more about the actions we take, the decisions we make and don't make, the way we love others, and the many other normal things that fill our days?
This Sunday I am concluding my sermon series based on Philippians 4:13. We will be talking specifically about Weakness and how the verse applies to our weaknesses. Weakness gets a bad wrap in our society. We are all supposed to be strong and not weak, but what if having weaknesses actually puts us in a position to experience God in a way that we couldn't if we just pretended like we were the "strong ones" all the time. I believe God has something incredibly encouraging to say to you as we take this time and put Philippians 4:13 under the microscope. Francis Collins, the brilliant scientist who mapped the human genome said that when he was looking at the strands of DNA under his powerful microscope that he saw the "fingerprint of God". I believe that as we look at this verse we too will see God and Him reminding each of us that "I am here", "I am with you", and "I am ready to help".
See you this Sunday, 10:10am, at Sand Creek High School!

New to True Life or church?
What to Expect your first Sunday!
We have just started meeting in our new location at Sand Creek High School so everything is a little new to us too. First, don't worry, there will be signs to help you along as well as someone to greet you at the entrance. You will enter through the main entrance at the high school, so you will either want to park in the "loop"
parking lot (blue) or the student lot (red).
Again, there will be signs to help you both
know where to park and how to make your
way towards the main entrance.
(SCHS 7005 N. Carefree Cir.)
As you enter the building you will be greeted by one of our friendly greeters. Our worship service area will be to your right, and our TLCKid's area and nursery will be to the left and down the hall where you can check your kids in for a wonderful morning. Back in the worship area (Cafetorium and Commons) you can enjoy some breakfast and refreshments just to your right in the "Common" area. This is also where we hold our adult and teen Bible Talk discussion groups. You will also find an information table as you enter this area with a bulletin for the morning as well as other information about True Life and our ministries.
We have what we call "Bible Talk" from 9:00-9:45am. These are discussion groups where we enjoy breakfast, drink coffee, and have some great conversations. Each week we introduce three questions that go along with that morning's sermon and prepare our hearts for what we will be learning from God's Word through the sermon. There is one for adults and teens, and the kids also have programming during this time. The worship service begins at 10:10am. It typically ends between 11:20-11:25am. The dress is casual. We are a come as you are church, so come as you feel comfortable. A few folks dress up, but the majority are dressed down - so whatever feels comfortable for you. :)
Our music is contemporary, and we have a small band that plays modern worship songs, with an occasional hymn, like what you might hear on a Christian radio station. The sermon is always based upon some teaching from scripture and is often part of a 4-6 week series that applies the teachings of the Bible to our lives in a relevant way.
Hope this helps and hope you will come visit us soon!
Join us for Prayer
Sunday Nights 6 p.m.
@ Power Tech Early College
(2525 Canada Dr.)
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges we have been given by God. Each Sunday night we meet at our PTEC location (2525 Canada Dr.) to pray together, for one another, and for those people and situations we care deeply about. Anyone is invited to join us for this informal time of bringing our hearts before God. He hears and answers our prayers.
The Big Deal!!!
We know choosing a church home is a
Big Deal, so we've created a fun night
to help you get to know us a little better.
Come spend time with Pastor Keith
and Mona, hear their story, ask questions,
and enjoy some coffee on us. This is especially for those who are somewhat new to True Life but all are invited. Our next Big Deal will be this Sunday night, March 8th, 6:30pm at Starbucks, Powers and Palmer Park, across Palmer Park from Wal-Mart and just down from Taco Bell.
